Relationships the Feng Shui way

It may seem that finding a suitable partner, or even meeting new friends, is a seemingly impossible task. So why not take a look at your love life through Feng Shui eyes? When you say you want the perfect partner, the man or woman of your dreams, does your home support you in that desire or is it saying ‘keep away’?

If your focus is on your significant other – or lack of one – your bedroom may be sending out a message which you’d prefer it didn’t.

So, let’s think about your bedroom. If you’re at home go and have a look at it right now. If you’re away from home close your eyes and visualise it. Now imagine you’ve met your ideal partner. You’ve been on a fantastic date and you know it’s going to go further. You take them home….. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination but one question. What will they think when they go into your bedroom? Does your bedroom welcome the love energy or slam the door in its face?

The ‘I’m not interested in romance’ signs:

Bed is against the wall so you can only get in on one side
Artwork displays moody/sad/lonely pictures of single people/animals or other things
Bedding hasn’t been changed since…?
Sweet and food wrappers are in/under/around your bed showing your nesting instincts
Everywhere is so cluttered that any visitor would have a problem leaving their stuff anywhere

You get the picture? Your bedroom is saying I’m on my own and there’s no room for anyone else and I like it that way. However much you remonstrate that you really want a relationship the universe will listen to your bedroom because your actions are so much more truthful.

Feng Shui works by considering the energies of your home or workplace and how they interact with you as an individual. But it’s not just about space. Timing is also important. Each one of us is living our own unique cycle. So, where you are in your life will have an effect on your interaction with your environment.

Confused? No need to be. Feng Shui is not complicated, just multi-faceted. Once you know the nature of the energies around and within you, the key is to live with those energies – enhancing the good ones and minimising the not so good ones. And a good Feng Shui consultant will be able to advise you on how to do this.

Okay, so let’s look at some positive things you can do in your bedroom to tell the world you’re ready for love:

Make sure your bed is in the middle of the wall to ensure that people can get into it from either side. Match bedside tables to ensure good Feng Shui Form and a balance of Yin & Yang. This will welcome a partnership into the room.
Use pinks, reds and greens which are colours of the heart and passion.
Keep the linen fresh and clean to welcome visitors at any time.
Make space in your closets and draws. Live as if somebody was already sharing your bedroom and the right type of energy will fill the space you’ve made.
As well as your bedroom there are two relationship areas in your home that you need to be aware of. The first is the south west sector and the second is the top right area as viewed on a floor plan of your home with the main door at the bottom.
Clear clutter from these areas. Clutter causes energy to stagnate which makes it thick, heavy and depressing. What self respecting love energy would want to turn up in such a place? Tidy things up and you make space for new energy and new opportunities.
Keep the areas light. There are a number of ways you can do this: remove anything outside the window that is stopping the light coming in (such as overgrown trees or shrubs); clean the windows; change the curtains if necessary; if natural daylight is limited consider a permanent source of artificial light; use a light, bright colour scheme and furnishings.
To stimulate the energy in this area use the element of fire with candles, red colours and triangular shapes.
Artwork or imagery in these areas as well as your bedroom should depict couples rather than singles

Finally, Feng Shui looks at your relationships as a whole so remember not to turn down a relationship if it’s not going to be a romantic one. Show the world you’re open to friendship and romance will come along too.
